The whole reason I am here is to throw off Russians. I actually play drums.

Right, well I could just ask myself since my entire post was a personal story about an ongoing identify theft issue.

It doesn't bother me nearly as much as it might have in the 1990's. Everyone's identity has been stolen at least once, your information is out there whether it's being used right now or not.

It's so commonplace that most companies are equipped and ready to deal with related issues. What pisses me off most is when they are not.

This was done. Of course, it's only helpful in the context of accounts that are opened with a corresponding credit check.

Well I think most of what you have posted falls into the conspiracy theory realm, the idea that these companies are secretly out to "get" some segment of the population at the expense of the integrity of their business and reputations.

These conspiracies tend to be tied to a particular political persuasion, so yes -- consider me on a different planet than you. Call me out of touch with reality if it's easier -- no offense taken. We are 100% living on different planets. :)

Trust me I get you about new potentials. Unfortunately, nothing you do or say here has any affect on the direction that technology has been set upon, by us. To technology as an entity, there will almost certainly be agents in our population that will continue the mission of improving it. If the tech we have collapses, then it could be looked upon as restoring balance (by some). The limits have not been found yet. The UAV ‘age’ upon us will bring new threats, but futurists already told us this.

You still with me on culture? From my point of view, that’s where the problem lies. I’ve thought about the points you made regarding negative agents within profit driven corporations before. That’s clear to me. The hard part is thinking about why we have sociopathic kids running around and what we can do about it now.

The meteoric rise in the price of insulin isn't a conspiracy. You're right though; you are on a different planet if you think companies only want the best for you.

Today it is possible for one human with a small sum of money to effectively destroy the World as we know it.

You're worried about your TDPRI username? How about your name? I Googled me and I got my full name, address, birthdate, phone number, previous address, net worth, pretty much everything but my employer. Now that's scary!

I was tracking myself down that way but other than very general info, there was a charge to find out more. It's awful: some whacko can easily track you down for a few bucks, hide outside your house and do you in at their convenience. Yes, worst case scenerio but certainly possible.
