I have a PRRI which I've been playing exclusively at home. As such, the volume stays around 3. Sounds great clean, and pretty good (but not awesome) with overdrive pedals. It still has the stock speaker.
I've heard that a lot of folks swap out the stock speaker, but does it make a difference at home practice volumes? If so, which speakers do you folks prefer for this use?

I use a princeton at home too. I like the stock Jensen quite a bit, but since I can never leave good enough alone, I have tried a couple others and landed on the WGS G10C. Sounds perfect for me. It didn't make it more living room friendly however. It's a bigger bolder louder speaker than the Jensen. I don't recommend the G10C/S for the PRRI. Yes, I'm a speaker nerd

Whats your opinion on G10C/S?
Mine? I tried the G10C/S in the PRRI because I like the G12C/S in my DRRI a lot. The G10C/S is OK at high volumes especially overdriven, but for the living room it seemed to be very dark, and the tamed high end seems to result in a honky lower midrange sound at lower volumes. For me it just didn't fit well in the PRRI. Maybe it would be great for an amp that is way too bright. The G10C manages to be sparkly without being shrill, and bass without farting out. I don't run stock tubes tho

Convert it to a 12" and install an Eminence Maverick.

You can adjust the efficiency from 91-100dB. 91dB is lower than most inefficient 10s

I have an Allen Sweet Spot with an Eminence Copperhead in it. Very impressed with the sound, and it's not overly efficient, so it likes home use pretty well. Twelve inch speakers I've tried in an extension cab and didn't like as well: Weber 12F150, Celestion Lead 80, Celestion 70/80, and an Avatar Ceramic 25. Of those, I liked the Lead 80 best.

I haven't tried the new Jensens yet. (my PR uses a 74 CTS alnico) But they have a P10Qf that's like 92 db I'd like to try sometime for around the house. (think that's what they call it)
But I moved out of town so volume isn't such an issue. Exept for my ears.

I'm a big fan of the WGS Veteran 10. Brings a nice full sound to the party, and has a nice break up. It's also not super efficient, so you can get further up the knob before you leave 'home use' ranges.

I've heard good things about the

Eminence GA10-SC64 10" Signature Guitar Speaker

Also the Celestion Gold 10" both in Princeton's

Thanks for the suggestions. Just curious, has anyone tried a Jensen P10R in their PRRI?

Yes. Mine came stock with one. It's pretty ice picky at first but gets smoother after thoroughly breaking it in. It's not great but not terrible either.

Here are the speakers I've tried in mine:
Jensen P10R, Celestion G10 Vintage, Celestion G10 Gold, Eminence Legend 1058, Eminence Alessandro

Of those, I liked the Eminence Alessandro and Celestion G10 Gold the best but for different reasons: the Alessandro for its really sweet clean tone and the Gold for its smooth overdriven tone. And the Gold sounded bigger than 10".

Hope that helps.

All depends if you want to retain american chime or you want to add some Brit grit.

The Eminence Legend ALK 1028 is a great speaker in that amp and is very close to a vintage Jensen Alnico. Very reasonable price.

I tried 3 different WGS in a couple of Princetons I owned. A Veteran 10 as well as a ET-10 and a G10C/S. Not PRRI but a 1964 6G2 and a 5F2A that I built. Based on what I was looking for the G10C/S was the winner for overall tone in my opinion. Vet 10 was lower volume less efficient of the bunch.
The Veteran 10 was also very good.

I found a clip I recorded of the G10C/S speaker only:

You are getting a lot of higher to outright high efficiency speakers. For home use, I honestly don't understand those recommendations.

My opinion - the P10R is a GREAT home speaker. If you don't mind turning up your treble a bit, the P10R-F is even better. Why? They do the lovely alnico compression and they are inefficient. So you can turn up your amp a bit without blowing the neighbors out.
