It's rumored that he has at least 10 of them. A guitar tech caught the guitar, as it is a planned move.

Is he above the band mark , I don't see it come down behind him ....... Have you seen the way Bruce lobs his guitars at Kevin Buel , poor guy must of taken some blows over the years , and I know he's dropped a few too

I *think* the only time I've seen Prince play an actual Fender Tele was in Graffiti Bridge, if memory serves he had a blackguard there, and maybe a black Tele during the Batman era?

Otherwise it's modified Hohners (aftermarket pickups, wireless system, etc)

Well, he plays a Strat-style in that clip. Can't tell if its a Fender, though. Maybe somebody with sharper eyes... ;)

    wOOt!!!!

He just crapped all over that song! Sounds like the theme music from a tampon ad!

    I like this version best.

I once got in a fight at a house party when someone tried to convince me this version was done by the Velvet Underground. I should stop getting into fights about music at parties in general. Did a similar thing when debating who was better Christina Aguilera or Billie Holiday, kids these days...

Anyway I try to ignore anything Prince has done post 1987.

    P.S.

NSFW, This is how I like to imagine Prince in action!

Yes, Prince is a seriously under rated guitarist. I love his tele tones... :)

That guitar is a Floyd Rose tremelo equipped with that ugly locking nut Strat Ultra with a red Dually Fender/Lace Sensor and other single coil Fender Laces installed, with a Purple Plum finish. The neck may be different as most Ultras had Ebony fingerboards. Fender did sell these in the early 90's. I have a similar guitar, but mine has a 2-point Fender tremelo w/a Tremsetter installed. The back of the guitar says Fender with the asymmetrical placement of the tremelo cover screws. They also used plain white 'toilet bowl' pickguards that matched the back cover. Mine is in FireStorm Red. Something like this:

I've seen him with a custom Cloud style guitar( y'know the one that Apollonia gives to him in the movie Purple Rain) w/ Two pickup version of a TeleStrat using Lace Sensors similar to a Tele Plus: a single coil Lace in the neck and a Dually Lace in the bridge. I have another guitar that I think he used on the recording of 'Dirty Mind' album: the Bill Lawrence Super Humbucker equipped Gibson L6-S; well at least he was using it in a video before the Revolution was formed.

I've been a Prince fan since 1979, and I know too much...But I don't think he uses Teles at all; they're all Hohners. I just want that leopard print pickguard he has for my Tele...that's all.
