Rick James pulled Prince from the tour because Prince and the Revolution were blowing him off the stage every single night.

It's amazing though, Prince had only been going for a year and already he was THAT good?

I don't care who you are/were, I would not have wanted Prince as my "support" act.

Then again, someone booked Jimi Hendrix as the support act on a Monkees tour in 1967...

There’ an ultimate Dave Chappelle Charlie Murphy(RIP)/Prince(RIP)/Rick James(RIP) bit in here somewhere.

that's interesting. Around 1979 I met a few of Rick James' group in a studio in Sausalito CA, where they were working on an LP. My then-girlfriend was working in a record store in Oakland CA, where she arranged an in-store appearance for a new artist called Prince, to promote his first LP.

Too bad I never saw either artist perform live.
