This is NOT about the R***l W*****g. Just one simple question about a car. When Harry and Meghan left Kensington Palace to toast the night a way they got into a gorgeous ice blue vintage Jag with left hand drive. Is that common in the UK? Left hand drive in a vintage Jag? Just asking.

As far as I'm aware it's a '68 Concept Zero Jag E type that's been converted to electrical.

First I've ever seen in the UK that's for sure!

(Not sure if you're asking about the specific car or the left hand drive part actually, so I'll clarify that, too - you don't often see left hand drive cars in the U.K.)

They're so rare that perhaps the best example they could find was an import from a LHD market.

You see a lot coming back from places like California where they never have English winters to rust them.

Salted roads, persistent heavy rain and British made cars, recipe for disaster.

Its ice blue exterior matches the ring quite nicely.

The Jag always was a lot more classy than the Mustang.

I think the way Harry and Mag are changing things over there...maybe they intend to fix the wrong side driving thing?

Later tonight in the royal suite?
Or earlier in the passengers seat?

There'd be a violent and bloody revolution before that happened.

It was last considered in the 60s, by this point we're just doing it out of spite.

I sincerely hope the conversion to electric was not performed by Lucas:eek:

I guess not, as we'd probably have read about them hitch hiking by now:cool:

It's a pretty cool car. Seems to be something Jaguar wants to do for vintage cars.

"THE FUTURE OF OUR CLASSIC CARS
In an increasingly environment-conscious age, we aim to make sure our Classic vehicles have the future they deserve. And we’re doing that by developing electric powertrain conversions that preserve the looks, handling and performance characteristics of the original vehicles – yet deliver zero emissions. These conversions are fully-reversible and can be applied to any XK engine powered classic Jaguar built between 1948 and 1992."

    https://www.jaguar.com/about-jaguar/jaguar-classic/authentic-cars/conceptzero.html

Evidently they sell restored cars now as well:
We strive for total authenticity in everything we do – restoring, recreating, rebuilding and even electrifying the vehicles that made Jaguar what it is today.

Australian joke: why do the POMs drink warm beer? Lucas makes the fridges.

(cue jokes about Joseph Lucas being the Prince of Darkness, Lucas dimmer switches having three positions, off dim and flicker).
