So here's my belated forum introduction. I prematurely signed up a couple of months back after being inspired by this website to pick up the guitar again. Another midlife crisis basket case.

I finally took delivery of ma guitar today! And it's already confession time. Ah was all for a Tele, but then I stumbled online across a black LP Jr-type doublecut by Yamaha (MIJ c. 1989–91). The price seemed right and I decided I was smitten.

So, no Tele. Am ah still allowed in?

Allowed in? Sure, but you have to attend a support group for non-tele players... ;)

The best thing after a Tele is a LP Jr (...or an SG). Welcome.

    Now go & buy a Telecaster:twisted:.

Where did you get er from , picture looks like ishibashi or another Japanese dealer

I’ve been thinking about buying from ishibashi but am unsure how well they pack and such for coming from around the world

Does it really need two pickups ?!?

Seriously though - nice guitar. Enjoy. Then buy a Tele :p

Aye, correct. Direct from Ishibashi, although I had someone carry it most of the way from Japan (which took longer)—partly cos I'm not sure I trust the Post Office here to be gentle, but also to avoid high shipping charges and getting bollocked by the tax man.

The guitar came in a cheapo gigbag, wrapped in copious layers of bubblewrap and then inside a heavy cardboard box, which was tape closed.

Ishibashi are fab to deal with, and the guitar is in better condition than I expected from the photos—they must've given the finish a polish as it's surprisingly well kept for a 30-year-old guitar (if now was 1990, then this guitar would have been made in 1960—it's almost vintage!)

Hey, it’s got a modern Tele style bridge, so close enough. Welcome!
