Testors model glue. My favorite for sniffing. The colors, the colors!

I remember when I first started building models the glue had a small nozzle with a cap that resembled a wire nut. That stuff actually fused the plastic together just like brain cells. Once someone figured out that could be bad (probably an adult) you couldn't keep a model together to save your life.

I have found that TB-I (original) tends to have less "creep" than TB-II and TB-II so the latter only get used for outdoor or wet location projects. For structural joints where I need the strength of epoxy, I use T-88. For some other things, I use polyurethane glue.

If its not HHG or fish glue I default back to Titebond Original. The other Titebonds are pretty useless in my opinion. I sometimes use epoxy for gluing in carbon fiber tow, other than that superglue for touchups, tiny spots and other diverse applications.

Anyone ever used Titebond Hide Glue?
Franklin Liquid Hide glue is somewhat controversial. In the tests I have seen it did not measure up to hot hide in shear, however the manufactures claims it is just as strong. It has urea added which keeps it from gelling in the bottle but apparently that also gives it a relatively short shelf life.

Bottom line, many luthiers do not like it, that's good enough for me

Yes...other than the long clamp time, I have had no issues with it. Check the date on the bottle if you buy one. I suspect that like so many things, opinions become "fact" and luthier's like what they like. Why would this product be available for decades if it was crappy? Check the 4.7/5 rating on Amazon out of 165 reviews...probably woodworkers not luthiers :).

Anyone used Titebond Extend for glue ups where you may want a bit slower set up time to work with?
