Preacher and the Mrs. took in a matinee over the weekend. Wow, I hate how that makes me sound 100 years old. It was a lazy Saturday and we were trying to come up with some activity that would just get us out of the house for a few hours before the football games started.
So a movie it was and the movie of choice was A Man called Otto.
The Mrs. and I had seen some previews of this and I chuckled at the thought of Tom Hanks (America's Sweetest Older Actor) play a grumpy old man.
As you can imagine the movie revolves around a man name Otto who is portrayed by Mr. Hanks. I love most of the stuff that Tom Hanks does and this is no different. When an actor "becomes" the character onscreen so much that you forget who the actor is, well that is beautiful.
Mr. Hanks does this with such force that after ten minutes you are watching the life of Otto Anderson and not Tom Hanks.
The supporting cast did a fabulous job as well including Truman Hanks (Tom's youngest son) who plays a younger version of the old man Otto.
I will not give any spoilers but I will tell you to bring tissues. My wife mentioned when we left the theatre that she did not realize that it was tear jerker and it is an emotional ride.
Two thumbs up for sure.
