Sorry I don't have an amp to post but I totally read that WGS speaker label wrong as I scrolled and got a good chuckle out of it.

Forgive me, it's upside down and this is a thread about woodies.

Here's my Trainwreck inspired build from this summer. The head cabinet is cherry tinted with amber shellac and a poly clear coat.

I like the wood handle on your cabinet, I think that works better than a leather handle on an uncovered combo cabinet.

here are my three so far: 5F2a in a cherry head Tru-oil finish, 10" mini speaker cab in Oak stained with a Tru-oil finish, and a 2 x 10" 5E3 from an organ pull, Stained pine with a poly finish.
I'm working on a Oak head cab for my 5G9 build and using Keda wood dyes still a work in progress.

Is that cherry wood? Shellac is a process, eh?
    It's beauty!

EDIT: The text apparently didn't make it through the first time. Top down is poplar, maple, and a "barn wood" styled pine cab. All used BLO initially for color and grain effect. All oil based polyurethane in the end, satin for the last one.

    Sorry no pics!

In 1989 I bought a '67 Fender Pro Reverb amp ( in need of repair+ a speaker), and the Tolex ( and damaged wood too/water stain) on the bottom of the sides was curling up from I'm guessing, sitting in some water in a basement?

Anyway ( and this was my mistake) I thought it would look cool to peel off the Tolex, strip/clean the pine cab a bit, then refinish the wood with 3-4 coats of
MinWax Polyshades ' Honey Pine' gloss finish.
It looked cool for a while, but so many gigs, getting thrown in the back of a trunk.van, even with a cover- I sure dinged it up!

    * the Pro was also missing the top rear panel that covers the tubes, so it was cool to look at the back of the amp through storefront windows ( from outside during breaks) at some bars where we set up in front.

Between the glow of the tubes and the natural wood cab, I thought this looked very cool! ( but vulnerable!)

I really like that look. Walnut and figured maple? Did you stain or tint it before sealing it?
