Speaking of Joe B. -- here's an Oly White '68 with a '59 slab board neck he was kind enough to sell me --

It's paid it's dues as you can see from the buckle rash which nearly qualifies as weight-relief:lol::lol:. The real-life relicing was done before I got it, but its great for gigging as another ding here or there.........

It sounds and plays great. Ì've now paid a bit to have a correct for 66 original switch and bridge saddles. Ì had to get the neck pickup rewound so I might look for an original at some time to get it right back to beaten up factory spec.

This is my '69 Tele Thinline which I've owned since the mid 70's. I purchased it with the case for $150 at a pawn shop in Vegas. It originally had a pearlite pickguard which was severely damaged by the amateur job the previous owner performed when adding an old Gibson SG humbucker to the neck position. I had it cleaned up by an old guitar shop owner I knew in Buena Park (So. Cal) named Jerry. He was a retired Fender employee, and I trusted his judgement. Jerry changed the 3 position switch to a 5 position and added his 'special' mod to the circuitry that gave this guitar the sound Van Halen didn't invent for another decade. It is basically as it was the day I picked it up at Jerry's little shop 47 plus years ago. All original except for the pickup mod...cracks in varnish, minor wear on the neck, I would not change a thing on this guitar. My guitar has traveled with me coast to coast so many times I've lost count. It's amazing...it's still working perfectly while the old man is showing the years, sigh.

Here's my '67 maple-cap Tele. I got this from another forum member, who got it from Lark Street Music. It's all original other than a recent refret. It's a beast!
