We live in the midst of a bunch of Dances With Wolves film locations, both out on the prairie to our east, and in the Black Hills, but I've never actually visited them. Of course, there's also some film locations from Hitchcock's North By Northwest nearby, but very little of the film shooting was actually done here. I think only one scene taken in the old cafe at Rushmore, which was demolished and replaced with the present one in 1994.

...and if you consider the latest ZZ Top documentary iconic, it was also filmed there. :)

I don't have any iconic shots on hand, but I grew up in the town about which Napoleon Dynamite was written and where it was filmed, and ran in some of the same circles as the writers and director when we were teenagers.

Filmed in and around New River, Arizona.

I bought gas at Jack Ass Acres many, many times.

The scene in the pic below was filmed on a 2 mile stretch of 2 lane that went to our town's dump (we had no trash pickup).
I was going to that dump the day they filmed this scene, had to wait for all the bikes to roll by.

One of my all time favorite movies. Perfect little film.

I probably have a lot of accidental shots from around here and back east, but this one comes to mind, driving down the Mulsanne straight, the day before they converted it to one way and let some slightly faster cars have a go. Greatest racing movie ever.

My wife is from Yorkshire, England and we took an overnighter up north back in like 2007. We were walking a trail at Hadrian's Wall and I saw this location and thought, Holy crap, this is gotta be from the film.....???

Because of a mild winter with little snow, some of this Coen Brothers film, had to be filmed near my hometown.

Not exactly a movie spot , but I stopped here for a breakfast burrito couple years ago.

The place was filthy. Gus used to run a much tighter ship.

Monument Valley was my first thought, who knows how many Westerns used it.

I know, somewhat cliche for most, but I gratuitously had to toss it in: (it is not exactly where people think it is) IMG_4802.JPG

The only thing we have claim to is “the Blair witch project” and the John waters movies

By “we” I mean the great state of Maryland

As far as actual locations and iconic I have no clue

Living in NYC, I constantly recognize scenery in/from films. My personal fave is, due to working in TriBeCa, I walk by the Hook & Ladder 8 Firehouse from Ghostbusters almost every day
