So I just finished upgrading a semi hollow body es335 style.... new new CTS pots, vol, tone knobs. While pressing on the knob it went pop.... Now there is a little verticle movement... Still works but crap... You know how difficult these are to be screwing around with the harness....bummed.... But at least it still works fine!

Something seems wrong indeed. It is supposed to snap, and then crackle first ...

I thought this was going to be a story of constipation and then unexpected relief in an awkward social situation. I haz a disappointment.

I do indeed. I was once dumb enough to want to try single coils in a 175. So I did. Even with dental floss tied to everything it was a pain. Then of course deciding to put it back made for twice the fun.

Now I need to replace one of the volume pots (unless someone has a fix for broken split shafts??? please please please please please...!)

Hoping I can fit it through the 'f' hole and avoid thrice the fun.

I've mended pot shafts by making a tube of insulating tape wrapped around the stub of the shaft and then carefully dribbling epoxy resin into the tube to the required height. Remove the tape after the epoxy is fully cured. Not sure if this method would work if your knob(s) only fits a split shaft and it would depend on where the break is..... but hope this helps :)
