So, perhaps this will split with East coast from the north coast and the West Coast.
Not sure about the South but they are probably more like the East Coast I assume.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As this proceeds, I noticed some people call pop a coke. Like an orange crush is a coke?
    hmm

I did not include that..maybe that is just Tx and Louisiana...too late to add in the (3rd) choice...maybe next time.....also soda pop and sody pop

Wisconsin is kinda weird like this. I call it soda, but I know some folks near the Illinois line call it pop.

People who call everything Coke are just total monsters.

    Guess I'm a monster.
I grew up [edit: in Texas] calling all of them all "coke".

    "Wanna go get a coke?"
    "Sure!"
    Both order Dr. Pepper.

I voted "pop" as the term used in my childhood...but, I use "pop" and "soda" interchangeably, to the confusion of my children and grandchildren :D.

Soda. Unless it’s Coca Cola and then it’s Coke. And I stopped drinking any of it 20 years ago.

From Minneapolis where we called it pop. Ex was from Milwaukee and it was a soda.

Then I gave up caffeine, extra sugar, and artifcial sweeteners so now I just ask for water.

You think calling everything a Coke is monstrous, try using the term “sodee”...certain parts of southern Illinois...

"Soda" seems to be more common in Europe of the two - I've never heard a non-American call it "pop".

When I was young and grew up in a small town, it was pop and only pop. In college, I started to hear soda. It sounded strange, but I got used to it.

Now that I deal with a team that resides across the country and lots of consultants from all over the world, and have access to BBC and other "foreign TV", the oddity of labels for items has diminished. I am more concerned with the message than the words used to convey it.

As for carbonated drinks: I drink a lot of bubbly (carbonated water with essence), or maybe an occasional cola, or we call it by the name. Pop vs Soda rarely comes up any more, but either is fine.

Yeah, people from everywhere else talk weird. Everybody knows you call them all Coke unless you want to get specific about which coke you want.
