Jimmy Garner, 'cause like so many of his pictures he portrays a fallible, frustrated "regular" guy with an understated cool. I would also have loved hangin' our with Harry Morgan and sneaking a smooch with a young Joan Hackett.

I chose Robert Redford/Jeremiah Johnson. That was a great movie and he was a guy who was just trying to learn to survive as he went about being a (mostly) solitary man in the harsh wilderness. He was also mean and tough if he had to be.

Clint Eastwood, just very cool and under control. But not on the list...Chuck Connors as Lucas McCain in The Rifleman. Now, he was bad a$$.

I feel like I'd want to be Eastwood in the Dollars movies.

But my life pans out with me as Gary Cooper in High Noon. Everyone but a blind drunk and a child vanish at trouble, just barely making it out alive.....

I don't remember whether I've seen Red River, nor do I know what Walter Brennan did in it, but I have a Grampa-like hitch in my gitalong now, so I chose him.

My boss at my first newspaper job was cousin to Robert Redford, or so he claimed.

Great movie. I’d chose James Garner - resourceful and kind-hearted (towards Donald Pleasance).

    Eastwood or McQueen.

They were always the coolest cats.

    EDIT:
As I get older, I seem to be turning into Woodrow Call in Lonesome Dove (Tommy Lee Jones’ portrayal)

I'm going with William Holden as Pike in The Wild Bunch.

"We started together. We'll end it together."

"When you side with a man, you stay with him. And if you can't do that, you're like some animal - you're finished! We're finished! All of us!"

    And the iconic, "Let's go."

It's a movie about honor and loyalty and the promises we make that some of us fail to honor while others give their lives because they gave their word.

None on your list. My vote would be for Golan Trevize. He was handsome, brilliant with incredible interwishion. Traveled the galaxy in a gravitic powered spaceship named the Far Star. Got laid a lot by very beautiful women. Had many adventures and saved the galaxy.

If Roy Batty had been an option I’d have picked it.

But I don’t want to discuss the implications of identifying with a skin job.

Redford/Jeremiah, just because it'd be great to get off the grid and into the deep woods right about now.

My vote went to Garner as well. He has a sense of humour, doesn’t take life too seriously, gets by on his wit and cunning, and gets the prettiest girl in town in the end. I also happen to think Joan Hackett’s hot.

I love "The Wild Bunch," but in real life I don't want to be a lonely old outlaw who shares a strangely intimate moment with Ernest Borgnine, then marches off with his buddies to kill himself in a battle with the Mexican army. I don't care if he dies with his Gatling gun standing tall, proud and strong.

While it's far from my favorite movie on the list, I'd most want to be James Garner in "Support Your Local Sheriff" for reasons others have stated.

Close as I can get to your list would be Gene Wilder in Blazing Saddles (according to my wife)
Never saw the movie but I like Gene's general demeanor in bits I've seen of him in that role.

I like watching movies where manly men shoot other men and bust up their faces etc but there are no characters in that groups I would want to be like.
I even used to shoot critters but by my teens I concluded I didn't like killing hurting or harming.

I like the warm, introspective, humanistic aspects of Mr. Astin in Evil Roy Slade.

My twisted idea of a Renaissance Man.

Most of ya'll, binge-ing on too many movies right now.
