Stairway doesn't have the syncopated groove that made Highway to Hell legendary. That's what people forget about AC/DC, they could groove with the best of them. Highway to Hell uses the basic structure of every western song ever, and Stairway "breaks the rules" with the slowly increasing burn the whole time which makes it legendary. Both recordings have some of the best sounds ever created.
They're both brilliant, but to whomever said Hotel California is in the same tier is dead wrong. The Eagles suck, they never deserved Walsh.
