Just got #4 yesterday. My son found out that foxes are my favorite animal and he started drawing these. For a while he was drawing like 5 or 6 a day "here dad! I know you like foxes so I drew this one for you." So I got one that stays forever. Father's Day present from my wife. This is my first in like 3 years and now I want to get another. Goes on and on.

No, we were divorced 20 years ago and I've remained ink free (as in no marriage license) ever since.

Wow, I am pleased to have stumbled on this thread -- I had no idea we were in the presence of TV royalty! I loved KOTH, and I have successfully used the "Boy, I tell you what" test to detect real-life Texans a long way from home. Johnnyha, you are rightly proud of being a major part of a great show. Cool tattoo also!

No, I don't have any tattoos. Or earrings.

Ha...well....I'm 69 and no tats for me.
I was in Oceanside one evening back in '67 imbibing with a Brother Marine and we almost got one. (EGA with bulldog).
We were standing outside the shop window looking at the various choices....I decided they weren't for me.

Personally, in society, I prefer to be unnoticed, unseen, transparent, unknown and incognito.
Don't care to draw attention to myself with something so permanent and have no desire to overtly portray anything about who I am, what I believe or what I've experienced.
    That's my take on it.

There's a couple of well done, very detailed ones in this thread though. :)

(EDIT: Oh...I don't don any jewelry, other than wedding band out of respect for the wife, and I would never do piercings either.)

    Carry on....

Where I grew up in the 50s, tattoos were for sailors, pierced ears for Romanys and rings in noses for male bovines. That has sort of stuck with me even though I don't necessarily agree with it all.

Here is mine. I never thought I'd get one, but I didn't even make it 6 months after my 18th birthday. My dad is covered, and has been for as long as I remember, so I guess nurture would have me changing my nature.

Not something I'd want to do. I've been marked plenty by life already, and I've changed too much over the years to want to have committed to something I might later regret. But it's a personal choice and I don't begrudge it or criticize it at all

It's so common on college campuses now--every sorority girl has a tattoo. Interesting how they used to be sort of marginal and now they are mainstream.

When I was in the Merchant Marine, it was customary to get tattoo on your first voyage over the Equator

Lived on Guam for a stent, and was scuba diving a lot... I was told I had to get these dolphins tattoo'd (Chuuk'ese tradition) in order to not get eaten by sharks. So I did.
No regrets as I didn't get eaten by sharks.

I have one tattoo--a blue tattoo of a guitar pick with a musical note on it on my right ankle. I was tempted to have a G clef and F clef on the left ankle, but I'm not gonna bother. I got it done at 63.

The blue was darker than I wanted making the paired eighth notes hard to see. So it looks like a blue birthmark. At least I didn't get a tattoo I had planned to get at age 27....

I had quit music the year before and went into the army. Then my girlfriend dumped me. I wanted to get a heart stabbed through by a dagger with the caption "Victim of Love".

I thank my lucky stars that my buddy borrowed the $100 set aside for it and blew it during a drunken weekend in Nuevo Laredo

I'm not sure what happened. Back in 1980 I was on shore leave with some other sailor but never did get that Tat. I think I tried to get some beauty who smile at me to go for drinks...(shrugs).

I told my wife one of these days...I'll get a Tattoo now my arms have stopped growing. :)

Some of my very best friends have them, however I don't care for them and would never even consider getting one.
