I think we are petering out on the voting. The numbers in the poll are a little skewed as most of the options were 5 year spans. 50 to 60 was a 10 year span. If I add 41 to 45 option, and 46 to 50 option together, the total is 49 votes so far today. Group 51 to 60 has 58 votes, and 60 to 70 has 42 votes.

It would appear that the largest age group are in their 50's on here. All totalled, 41 and over and up seems to be majority. As of today, 80.31% of those who voted are over 41 years old.

Cool. We are among many experienced people here. Those who tend to have more money and time to find the tone they want. Anyone born in the 50's were teens in the heyday of classic rock, and affordable vintage amps and guitars. You guys, I am a little jealous of for that. Maybe you even went to Woodstock.

Was a fun poll. Thanks to those who voted and commented. This is a great forum. Thanks for making it what it is. - Keith

Naaa.. I don't think so. No need to be pessimistic. We showed the way. Good tube amps will always be around.

And here I thought I was hanging out with the fresh new generation.

Now we need a poll for geographic location so I can jam with some of you old guys.

Nope. They play through computer interfaces into amplifier emulation software. Pretty soon I'm gonna walk into a dance club and there's gonna a computer emulated band playing to computer emulated dancers. :(

    Yeah....another poll, but this time:

    Narrower age brackets...every 3 years
    Rough geographic location...maybe by state?
"Plug-in and play", with only onboard amp effects?
    Use outboard effects?

I'm 26, but I gather than I'm a real young'un when it comes to this board, not only the amp section. There are other boards that seem to have younger regulars. I guess people tend to hang out online with similar ages, lifestyles, etc just as they do in real life.

Surprised that there was so little participation in the poll.

Looking at the chart I don't feel that old any more. Albeit, I've been playing guitar over 55 years.

Yup..... I post in several other forums, like The Gear Page, the Fender Discussion Page, the PRS forum and even Surf 101.....but the TDPRI is by far, the most fun and most civilized site I've seen.

Now.....could someone tell me where I look to figure out how to create another poll? I see in the "post new thread" selections, a box you can check to create a poll. I wanna see mo' stats!

31 here. Typically I just google and read info on what I'm searching for in forums. I don't normally participate in forums. But it's slow at work right now. I have a feeling lots of us younger guys are reading you older guys' words of wisdom without commenting. Just want to say thanks for making me smarter about amps!

Most of the 15 to 30 year olds I know are very interesrted in their tone. Though I would say 20 to 30 year olds, any one younger than that is into Line 6, Mustang & Vipers. However I run into 50 to 70 year olds all the time that don't seem to care about what type of gear they play through. The only friend I have right now who I can have a serious conversation with about gear is 20 something.

This poll might determine the largest age grouping of TDPRIers, but it won't tell us the average age of visitors to ACS. For that, we would need to know everyone's age and the total number of members.

I know a couple actuaries who have Texas Instruments calculaters. I'll see if they can get us some estimates.
