Plug And Play jack question

Question for anyone who knows how this setup works.

It seems clear that if you connect a single speaker cable to either the "4 ohm mono" or "16 ohm mono" jacks, you get both speakers.

It also seems clear that if you connect a single speaker cable to the "8 ohm right" jack, you get the right speaker.

I'm guessing that if you want just the left speaker, you connect the speaker cable to the "8 ohm left" jack and insert another cable with no signal on it into the "8 ohm right" jack.

A plug in both upper jacks is the way of making both speakers becoming independent.

So yes if no wires are hooked on the plug ( called a Dummy plug ) inserted in the Right jack, only the Left speaker is active. As soon as you remove this Dummy plug both speakers are active and become part of a parallel circuit.

^What he said^ If you own a can with this plate, you really need to keep a dummy plug handy for the occasions when you want to use a single speaker.
