Good question and I wish I knew the answer!
I really haven't messed with many currently manufactured 6L6s. I need too because I'm out of old stock 6L6s and hate to spend the money on NOS.
Just keep in mind they're all made in three plants now, China, Slovinkia and Russia. No need to buy ones that are relabled and put into fancy boxes. Plenty of places test and match without all the BS you pay for these days.
So, in a Fender Deluxe, would you gain anything by using 3 7025's instead of one 7025 and two 12ax7's?

I don't believe so, assuming you are talking older tubes.

BTW, if you are looking for some good tubes, look on Craigslist for old Hammond organs. They are very heavy and people are usually just looking to get rid of them. The one I got was filled with Mullards from the Blackburn plant. There were around 12 preamp tubes and 2 recifiers. All were guitar amp tubes

"7025... The "low noise" version of the 12AX7. This tube has a spiral wound filament intended to reduce hum."

I'm not sure this is correct really. I think some were 7025 and not a spiral wound filament. But I am not 100% sure. Some 7025 labeled were just short plate versions of the 12AX7. Long plates are most often noisier than the short plates. (as a generality) 7025 were selected to be low noise, but by design? I dont know. I did have some RCA 7025 I sold a year ago. Not sure if I still have any laying around, I'll look.

well crap.... ZOMBIE THREAD!

I really liked the winged-C SED 6L6s back when they were available, and thought they at least sounded comparable to the handful of NOS 6L6s that I had in my possession, years ago. Shame that they're all gone now.

Anyway, while I haven't dinked around with every new production 6L6, I have had enough pairs of JJs to be personally happy with them. That's what I currently have in both my '71 VR and late 60's SR.

Best is subjective. I like what I hear from the Russian made Tung Sol 6L6GC-STR.
I've got a pair of Tung-Sol RI 5881s that I originally had in a 2204'ish sort of (re)build, that redplated shortly after installation (with proper bias, even). They've got quite a few years on them now, and still sound good, and have been moved to a SF Bassman AB165 head. I've actually got them biased pretty hot in this amp, and they sound way better than the horrible GT 6L6s that came in it. So while a 5881 is not a 6L6, maybe in this case the Russian-made one might be worth considering?

...The thing I keep hearing in the back of my head is this notion that even tubes made at any given plant may vary significantly in just a short period of subsequent time when they're made. Having said that, the JJ 6L6s do seem to be pretty consistent, after having bought multiple sets over the course of quite a few years now. I think my '71 VR is on its second set of JJs.

Can't keep a good zombie down, I guess. I see I commented on this one when it was only 10 years dead, noting the core answer to the title question was provided by @ThermionicScott in post #2. Every full moon, I guess...

"Braaains... must have... braaains...." Hey, did you know we now have a zombie emoji?

Seriously though, if you are indeed buying NOS tubes, you kinda need to go all the way down the rabbit hole and not just have a dabble on a rainy Saturday.

Gateway info intended to get you to go all the way down the rabbit hole instead of just buying a damn tube.
Yep, I got sick of the rabbit chase about 10 years ago. I decided to go with preamp sets from Doug's Tubes. They are different blends of modern production Chinese, mostly. But, he tests them to work together as a set. It worked great with my old Mark III. Sounded better than the original Mesa tubes it came with. Here are some of the kits they sell. But, he's done many different amps. Much cheaper than going NOS, and gets good results, imo.

Oh, and for 6L6's most modern Two Rocks come with TAD's. Just an fyi.

Sometimes just sticking with one vendors services is a good choice.
I chose to bid on auctions of vintage tubes from unreliable sellers.
Year after year.
So lots of old tubes for lower prices than normal new tube prices and I do OK taking my chances.
Not for most buyers though!

I wondered what I'd said to suddenly get a bunch of reactions. 😅
