So I sprayed some clear lacquer today. So far so good and i do like it. I am wondering though if the redwood body should be blacked out. I have a lot going on with this guitar color wise. Mahogany and maple neck with ebony fretboard, redwood back and quilted maple top. The redwood and mahogany are close in color but definitely different, i am a big fan of natural wood grain in any project. Just thinking black might be better? Thoughts?

another one for natural-even if you hate it you can much easier make it black in a few months than make it natural

Without knowing your plan for the top I would say add a little brown tint to the lacquer to get the color closer to the neck. Don't add too much brown tint so that you lose the existing color of the body.
Red trans tint is a great idea too if that works with your plan for the top.
    Nice looking guitar!
