I am a 67 year old man who decided to learn guitar. Being a lefty I learned that the choices were Slim. So after doing a little research on the smarter than me phone and fingering different guitars that friends own, I ordered a G&L ASAT tribute the creamsicle colored one. Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated thanks

    Hi Bilster, welcome aboard!

What about an amp? If you don't have one yet, may I suggest picking up a used Fender Mustang I. You can get them for under a hundred. They have lots of nice sounds and effects, you can get familiar with reverb, delay, distortion, modulation, chorus, overdrive, etc, without needing to get a bunch or pedals. When you find the amp you want, you can sell the Mustang for what you paid.

ASAT's are nice. I took up guitar at age 60, and my second purchase was a Tribute ASAT Special. Learning is very slow for me but I'm having fun and playing better than I ever have, which is not saying much! Enjoy the journey. You have come to the right place!

    No pic's ??? That's against club rules.

A comforting thought for you: The more you play, the worse you get (thanks to those mongrels Dunning and Kruger).

That should be a great guitar. One tip is to get it set up by your local shop or luthier. It will make it so much easier to learn on.

Welcome @Blister ! Great choice of guitar!

    I am sure he is!

I second this. Mustangs are a lot better than they get credit for. On the bad side of things: if you have a Mac with a recent OS, the app that is required to really enjoy all the features of the Mustang cannot be installed :(

    Great tip! a 2000$ guitar without a good set-up will play worse than a 300$ with a good set-up.
