So I got a Martin D15M on Sunday to keep at my office. I work solo as a criminal defense attorney. I didn’t have court or any client appointments and I am limiting meetings to phone only so I dressed casual. I had a really busy day. I wrapped things up around five. It was a nice sunny day. I took my Martin and walked across the street and sat in some shade outside the courthouse and played away. I got some nice smiles and few thumbs up from the court workers leaving for the day and some other passers by. I wasn’t trying to get money, just jammin. I have never done that but it was really fun.

    happy new Martin day!

MA court's are on skeleton staff. Our administrative hearing body is handling things remotely.

For what it is worth, the Lawyers Concerned for Lawyers have been setting up virtual programs to manage stress, etc. in MA. Including LCL meetings for attorneys in recovery. I believe other state lawyers assistance programs are doing the same.

Next time you play leave your open case a few feet away ... you might make a few bucks ...

Yeah, play outside. Open your guitar case. But instead of collecting a little cash, have a small sign inside that says: "I'm a great criminal defense attorney, too!" And leave some of your cards in there.

Didn't Saul Goodman do something like that in a recent episode of Better Call Saul?
I like the way you think, lol!

Thanks! :D I've heard of that show (on Netflix) but haven't watched it. Yeah, I was pretty sure my idea wasn't original (except to me :D).

LCL is a new org to me - in WA, we call it LAP as a lawyer assistance program, primarily referring affected lawyers to licensed clinical assistance where necc or peer support for depression, gambling, self-medication and alcohol use that is no longer "social drinking".
And it's confidential and walled off from the disciplinary office.
I've been associated as a peer counselor for about two decades - it's a pretty emotional experience getting a referral or walking someone into the LAP office for their first care appointment.
The associated (not-affiliated) 12 step groups have been migrating toward Zoom web-conf meetings.
Gotta adapt to the ground game as it is, not how we'd like it to be. [pg 417]
    Good on 'ya @Gabrielle84
    Peace - Deeve

Back in the middle '70s I used to love to play my D-35 sitting on the front steps of my house.
It was a very high crime area (Houston's third ward) and nightly the cop cars would roar by at speed and the police helicopter would spotlight anyone outside.
    Fun-fun-fun!

Yup, I've played on park benches just for fun a few times. Folks don't seem to mind.

I was planning to do some busking this summer, but all those bets are off.

25 years ago I sat out by the Tchefuncte River in Madisonville, La and played the sun down.
I closed my case on purpose. Folks drifted by. Some lingered. Most smiled. It was an awesome experience. I was offering something for nothing and folks were digging the vibe.
    I’d forgotten about that.
    Maybe I’ll do it again.

I did it again today. I played a few songs while people ate lunch. I like the energy. It makes me play better. I am easing into performing.

A few weeks back, Mrs Buckocaster (upright bass), a friend (mandolin), and me (guitar) spent an hour or so playing here...

It is the Primitive Baptist Church in Cades Cove in Rocky Mountain National Park.

people from all over the country sat and listened, sang along, and danced.

A good time was had by all and we look forward to doing it again soon

I had to stop my busking in our local Mall thru' health reasons but when I see people in the shops or in the street they ask when am I going to start busking again. I tell them I won't be starting again because we're becoming a cashless society and I found over the last few years the money I earned was getting less because of that. People say "Oh I'll still put money in your case." But its just not worth it financially.. S

Once a buddy and I were jamming at the New Haven train station. We got so into it we missed our train.

    Oops.
