Rudolph the red nosed reindeer makes a really dandy punk rock song. I think I 1st heard it on a Cheech and chong record. the great thing about it is you don't have to be able to sing very well. just choke it out.

The radio show "Live From Here" (the replacement for Prairie Home Companion) does a recurring bit about Breathy Acoustic Covers of Alternative Rock / Hair Metal / Disco / Hip Hop / etc. They're pretty hilarious.

Try singing the words & melody to "Gilligan's Island" to the music of "Stairway to Heaven". BION, it WORKS!

We used to do Donnas Deeds Done Dirt Cheap. Donna was not a fan.

"Louie Louie", I always sing the line, "smelling the roses in her hair" and the repeated verse I sing "smelling her rose scented pubic hair". Yeah yeah. 14 year old humor. Usually gets some laughs though.

When I was in Catholic elementary school, we used to sing Amazing Grace to the tune of House Of The Rising Sun in church services.... At least we did until someone figured out the lyrics of HOTRS.

Original/cover band I was in in the early 90s did the Stones' "As Tears Go By" like we figured the Ramones would have done it. People loved it.

I do the Folsom Pinball Blues at open mics and it always gets a laugh. I also figured out how to do it the other way around - the lyrics of Folsom Prison Blues sung to the tune of Pinball Wizard. I call it “Pinball Prison Blues”. Try it - it works! :D

We do Born to be Wild with " looking for my dentures, and the glue that makes them stay", and in Who'll Stop the Rain, "I went down Virgina" changes to "I went down on Virgina". Our girl singer is a hoot.

I heard an a cappella gospel version of that same mashup and it was stellar. I think it was from the blind Boys from Alabama.
