My first decent electric was a wine red, 1996 Studio LP I bought through an American Music Supply catalog. It was flawless, but its neck was thicker than I really liked, it was heavy, and I could not bond with the pickups (498/490). I had pretty much decided LPs were not my thing, so I traded it for a 2007 AS Tele.

A few years ago, I ran across a deal on a used, but pristine, Gibson 2008 LP Standard with Burstbucker Pro pickups, and I love it. One of my favorites. To my ears, sounds like an LP should. Weight relieved, asymmetric neck, beautiful, plays like a Gibson... the only flaws I can find are a slight issue with neck dive and output jack release, but those are by no means deal breakers.
