Played a squier starcaster

    The budget model.

    I was very impressed. Played nicely. Loved the pickups. Frets were nice. And pretty cheap. Might buy one later in the year.

    Same experience I had with a Sawtooth Tele at a pawn shop. I gave them $50 for it and all it needed was a string change and setup. I'd gig with it now.

    Cheap doesn't necessarily mean bad quality ... though sometimes it does ... I tend to enjoy an inexpensive axe as much or more than a pricier alternative...

    I had a Squier thinline for 2 years - was a fantastic guitar, easily up there with the Fender equivalent, but much cheaper. Only sold it as the tone didn't fit my style of play.

    Good for you! I got a 2007 hardtail Squier Bullet Strat, and it’s great. Plays and sounds is fine and well-finished.
