Stopped in at C and M music in NOLA today while delivering strawberries.
The owner was in and we got to chatting.
He let me play this 1927 Martin
    000-18...
    And hold a 1954 Stratocaster...
And hold a 1952 Gold Top Les Paul.

The little Martin was very dry and slightly boxy sounding. It had nice dynamics. I just fingerpicked it a bit so not a real assessment for sure.
I did not play, nor ask to play, the electric guitars but the vibe of the strat was unlike any guitar I have ever held. The gold top felt rudimentary. The trapeze bridge doesn’t seem to be very functional.
Anyway , It was a good day.

More on the Strat. What's that mean?

You saying that, and we all know Strats... we think... Then I think about the guy in 1954.... it must have been like holding a UFO or something.

I bet he would have let you plug in the strat if you gave him a few quarts of free strawberries.

    Cool day.
I've seen a lot of old Strats and somehow they "look" different but I've never quite been able to put my finger on it.
