Plastic Tele neck covers?

I'm getting a White pickguard and would like the neck pickup to match. Obviously, 99.999% of Tele neck pickups out there have a metal cover, most of the rest are uncovered-- the only two I can think of that use a plastic cover are the G&L MFD's and the Wilde Keystones.

Are there any parts manufacturers out there that make any? Aesthetically, I'm just not into metal pickup covers.

I know of no supplier that has white plastic covers for Tele neck pickup. But what you could do is get a hole-less Strat type cover (called "solid" or "closed") like the one used on the original Mustang, and cut the pickguard to accommodate it. The Tele neck pickup will fit in it. You may have to open up the pickup rout in the body--depending on the body your Tele has.

Another option is to just install a Strat pickup. That mod is a good one.

No way talks much about Harmonic Design anymore, but they offer their Vintage Plus Tele neck PU in plastic covers in Black, White, Tortoise, Pearloid, and chrome. But, I think you have to buy the entire PU. And they have a Mini-Strat Neck Pickup for Teles that comes in black or white.

Truthfully, I never heard of them before! The "mini-Strat" pickup definitely piques my interest!

All I see is in the results is metal covers. I already ran several searches, in multiple search engines, with multiple string variations-- if I found what I was looking for in a search, I wouldn't have bothered asking here.
sorry I tried for you , I didnt think you would be offended as you asked the question , I'll do better the next time you ask , is that OK?

buy or find a 3-d printer and make your own!

I get it-- a lot of people hop onto the forums and create new threads soliciting info that could have easily been answered with a simple internet search or the forum's "search" function. I've seen it a thousand times (been a member of TalkBass for well over a decade), and will probably see it a couple thousand more.

I didn't mean to come across as taking offense, just pointing out that what I am looking for was not in the search results, and in fact reinforced my premise that what I'm looking for is pretty hard to find! ;)

You make a good point about a 3D printer-- that's actually not a bad idea.

Putting a Strat Seymour Duncan Hot Rails pickup in the neck my latest project, Hot Rails Tele in the bridge.
Yes, that neck pickup cavity is going to have to be routed to fit the pickup, creating a template for that.
I want the route to be able to accommodate the Strat pickup, a humbucker or a P90.

I am going with the black pickup cover, but I could have also gone with any other color available for Strats.
Got a Warmoth pickguard with a Strat neck pickup cutout in black and one in parchment.
I also have black and parchment Strat knobs and parchment Tele switch tips on order.
Not sure if I am going black or parchment yet, want to see it with both before I decide.
If I go parchment, I may still order a parchment pickup cover.

sorry about my responce it was kneejerk to what came across as agressive , the 3-D printer was my first reaction but i saw that the link I posted had some interesting options that may have been to your benifit , that was it ,
having a new idea is a brilliant concept and when you get what you need there is a high that comes with it as YOU solved the problem that seemed impossible , good luck with this .

My issue was how do I vesa mount an 24" apple Imac? same sort of "Nothing fits the bill " quandry here was my solution :
I had to manufacture this my self and as the hole in the stand was 1 3/4" there were no electrical or plumbing fixure in that size they went fron 1 1/2" - 2" I had manufacture that as well, so I get the frustration, time in research and comming up empty handed aspect , your idea is valid so follow through and keep us posted .

Harmonic Design was one of the more popular online boutique pickup makers in the late-'90s/early-'00s, especially their Z90 (which was an early HB-sized P90), but quickly was overshadowed by the explosion of competition in the last 15 years. But they still get good reviews even in relatively recent threads here at TDPRI.

Oh, come on now. They asked for something specific. If you're going to assume they haven't already searched, then you can't leave out the one essential keyword from their request – "white" – in your linked search. ;)

Vacuum forming will probably produce a thinner, stronger, smoother result. It's just not as widely available as 3D printing. The issue with 3D printing a traditional Tele neck PU cover is there is less clearance between the PU and pickguard, so the walls have to be thinner and weaker (Strat covers would be no issue).

Since color compatibility is your stated reason, and you apparently plan on a cover remove and replace effort; painting one (your current, or a new choice) to match the guard seems to be an obvious and inexpensive option.

Can't you just take a Strat PU cover and file off the bottom so that the cover fits over the pickup but rests on the pickguard?

As Wyatt noted above, Strat cover thickness precludes doing that. Body routs and pickguard openings made specifically for Tele pickups aren’t usually big enough for Strat style.

I mean put the cover on top of the pickguard

No bad ideas when brainstroming. But, I would think a Strat cover may be to be cartoonishly large over a Tele neck PU unless the pole pieces fit thru in a way that looks natural. All that said, a set of strat PU covers to test with, or get measurements from, are sub -$10.

There is always the faux Esquire look with the PU under the PG or with only the pole pieces through it.
