I just rembered how much I like Pixies so I have been listening to them quite a lot lately.
I remember there was a documentary about them on TV when I was about 15-16 years old. When I first heard their music I was blown away. Singer was screaming like crazy, the lyrics didnt make any sense. I saw Kim on bass which seemed so cool to me (girls on bass look amazing, right?) and her beautiful backing vocals. And there was Joey Santiago with some amazing solos.
Anyway, after that documentary I finally decided to buy my first electric guitar cause I just wanted to play like they do :D

Always loved the Pixies. First song I ever heard by them was Monkey Gone to Heaven. Really, really made me want to get a guitar and learn.

It wasn't until they got back together did I dive deeper. Seeing them was also one of the better shows in memory...

I was late to the party, but love the Pixies. while I was listening to REM, I should have been enjoying The Pixies. A great band with loads of talent. Bonus points for Kim Deal.

My kids (ages 11-15) discovered their music recently and since then have covered two of their songs - Where is My Mind? and Here Comes Your Man.

I think I was 15 or so when Surfer Rosa came out, so it’s pretty cool that they’re listening to some of the stuff that I did when I was their age (I guess it helps that most of the music I play in our house and in our car is 60s-90s).

I would say you are giving your kids some good musical education. ;)

When Nirvana broke through with Smells Like Teen Spirit my first thought was "these guys were obviously inspired by the Pixies". Doolittle is a near-perfect album.

Overrated '3 albums for a dollar' bargain bin bulls**t.

    I like The Breeders, however.

I have always loved them. Saw them a few times back in the 80s, now they are my 14 yr old son's favourite band. Good kid

Love the Pixies. So smart and witty. They’re one of my favorite bands. I’ve seen them a handful of times but hearing them at The Ryman was
    a religious experience.

Saw them in a small club on the Surfer Rosa tour. Ticket was $4. One of the best shows ever!

Saw them a few years later in a large venue after they had stopped speaking to each other. Pretty much phoned in.

Saw 'em at Lollapalooza in 2005. They were the best live band there, and I saw lots of great bands. The Black Keys, Blonde Redhead, Arcade Fire, Spoon, etc.

Hugely influential to me in my teenage years. Mind blown over and over.

Kim Deal formed The Amps after the breeders. I was 16 and was able to get into The Starfish Room in Vancouver to see them. I think the doorman took pity on me after some guys I met in the line talked to them.

She looked right at me at one point and I was so embarrassed.

Joey is one of my main guitar influences.

I joined a New Wave/Post Punk cover band because one of the songs in their “every show” setlist was Monkey Gone to Heaven. We had great fun for 7 years.

I never tire of their best albums and the original lineup albums all contain at least a few gems.

I finally saw them live about 2 years ago. They were fantastic. No Kim, but still really great.

Edit: They played everything I was hoping to hear except Monkey Gone to Heaven.

Got this album that came out in 2016 and especially like the title/lead cut 'Head Carrier', which has a bit of Neil/Crazy Horse thing going ...
