I want to buy some Ping vintage style tuners as they are affordable, but I recall hearing that the ferrules don't fit the way other Kluson/ Gotoh vintage style tuners do. If this is this true how do I need to approach this? I have a Hosco neck that I would want to install them on.

I've never had a problem with Ping tuners (I like 'em).

The ferrules sometimes are an over-tight fit in a headstock drilled for 'vintage' tuners (usually 11/32" diameter), so I "waller out the holes" a little with a tapered reamer, and use a dot of Titebond in the hole before I press 'em in.

AFAIK the Hosco neck tuning peg bushing hole diameter is .343" (8.7mm).
Ping vintage-style tuner bushings are 9.15mm which is too large.
Options are ream the holes as Peegoo says or buy a set of Gotoh SD91 tuners with 8.8mm bushings and a better ratio of 15:1. (Pings are 14:1)
