Does anyone else have a collection of all colors and change them out every now and then? My Special Edition Electric Blue DRRI came with a blue jewel. A few weeks ago I had a green in. Now it is amber.

I have changed them on a couple amps I have owned but just once to a favorite color. Guess you get a 'new' amp now & again when they are changed. upload_2020-10-1_17-5-51.png

Man, this is the kind of stuff that other people just wouldn't understand.

I have a '64 narrow panel Champ with the black tolex. I replaced the red with green.

I don't switch 'em out. The ones what came with red ones still have the red ones.
That said, 1) my homebrew Champ-esque build has a blue jewel, and 2) I'm going
to build myself a 2x6V6 amp based on a DR this winter, it'll have an amber Jewel.

I always liked green (for GO) ones best, with purple as a runner-up.
    Red is boring.
Amber looks cool on lighter colored amps. too

I had 3 for my '68 Deluxe Reverb
An amber, a red, and a blue.

Sadly, I think I have the spare jewels, but
needed to sell the DR in 2015

    ( still in mourning)

I do sometimes. I have some really nice polished round ones (no facets) that are pretty old. Crazy bright though.

I bought a blue one recently for my SFTR but haven’t put it in yet. My Headstrong Lil King S has a white jewel light that looks nice with the white Tolex on the cabinet.

In the late 70s I put a blue jewel in my BF Vibrolux Reverb. It looked cool, for sure. I had the amp worked on and a shop employee stole the jewel, replacing it with a red one. I found him at home and got it back.

    Blue jewels are that important.

I have every color ever made: 2 different red shades, green, amber, blue, purple (my favorite) and clear (really rare, but good for stage lighting) I change 'em out in my SFTR whenever I get in a mood, but the purple has been in there for awhile.

Didn't like the red jewel that came with my PRRI. Ordered Blue, amber, purple.

Do like the street rod guys do with tail lights.

Get a red plastic jewel and drill the center to put a small blue insert in it. Up close, it looks mostly red with a hint of blue in the center. From several feet away it should look purple.

Look, what a man does with his jewel lights is his business but don’t come in here preaching about one’s purple tone!
