I found two Fender Tex-Mex on CL a few years ago for 30 USD and couldn't pass them up. They were the neck and middle positions. I went with a GFS " Texas" wound pick up, based on the description and the sample on their website. I put all three in an S/X Strat and I think it matches excellently with the Fenders. I don't know if this is any help to you, but, I trust GFS' info about their products.

Before you order from GFS, be sure to check out Bootstrap pickups. Just sayin'

Pickup changes or so-called upgrades are a crapshoot ...

Gfs more then likely sells Artec pickups.

Guitarmadness on ebay, or amazon is usually % 30 cheaper for artrec pickups

You cant beat gfs on bodies, but i stay away from everything else there.

Ill also say that i havent had a bad artec yet

I agree 100% with BB on Bootstrap Pickups. Made in USA, boutique quality, at Asian import pricing. I've used both their Palo Duro and Pretzel Pup sets (for Telecasters).....both sets are great, I lean slightly to the Pretzels. I have no affiliation to Bootstraps (other than as a VERY happy customer) .
I've also used bodies, hardware, pickups etc. from Guitar Fetish with somewhat mixed results.....but they KILL you on shipping charges.
Go with Bootstraps.....you'll be pleased. ;)
