Cool. Nice to see the roots of great artists and bands.
Boogie with Stu...
That's Earl Hooker on the Muddy track on slide. And there's this from 1966, Marriott on guitar and vocals...sound familiar? Like, very familiar?
Theftery is the sincerest form of flattery. Who did Muddy, Willie, Sonny Boy and Hubert steal from? It probably goes all the way back to Grog the Caveman who banged two rocks together to impress the chicks.
Willie Dixon himself is a brazen song theif if Buddy Guy’s autobiography is true.
I mean...what were you expecting me to post?
Well, they did take it to another level. The Dragon Telecaster.
They all played them the best way that fit them....they didn’t play note for note from any body......that, to me is the search I'm on, to take a song and be true the soul of it, but add your soul to it. How many souls are in “When the Levee Breaks”?
Then there's Jimmy Page stealing from himself:
See if the solo at the 2:00 mark sounds familiar:
Anyone know guitar, amp and player on this one? Love that guitar sound.
(or whatever else went into making that guitar sound. Sounds like it's muffled.)
I'm sick and tired of people making excuses for that scumbag. If he had stolen physical property instead of intellectual property he'd be in prison. And the excuse that Dixon did it too makes it ok? I guess Stalin could say he didn't do anything that other dictators hadn't already done, so that's ok too? JEEZ!
In most cases I think the accusations are overblown.
Stairway Into definitely guilty.
Bert Jansch might have a case.
Blues guitar is all based on standards in my opinion so that stuff doesn’t bother me.
