So I got a new epiphone lesPaul 50’s standard in the summer and I love the red colour but I also like the cream .

So it’s a real chore to decide if the pickuard stays on or stays off

Beautiful Lester you have! I've been blessed to have a nice handful of LP's over the years....some I left P/G on. Some not.

As far as your guitar goes, I think it looks awesome ether way. If I HAD to choose, I'd opt for the pickguard as that cream color works so well with cherry ish finish.

How does it sound/play???

I like it better off. Sleeker.

You won't notice the screw holes after a while. Really. They're so much smaller than that big, ugly, scratch plate.

(Since it has a carved top, that does mean you have to play without a finger rest.)

Your guitar looks good either way. Flip a coin and run with it for a while.

Les Paul pickguard on or off....yes. Two of mine are with and one is without

I couldn't make up my own mind about this, so I have a few Les Pauls.

Some have pickguards, some don't.

I recommend you do the same
