Some years ago I took out the middle pickup, two of the pots and the switch of my old partscaster Strat.Until now it still had the original pickguard installed, with the middle pickup hole covered by a piece of plastic while the other empty holes were just left open.
Today I finaly build a new pickguard for the remaining two pickups, the pot and the switch.
I could have bought a pickguard without holes, but because I already had a piece of black pickguard material, I decided to build it myself.
I used the old pickguard as a template and cut out the shape with a saw and some files.
I also sanded the pickguard to take the shine off.
(As you maybe might notice - the 3 high strings do not run exact over the polepieces of the slanted bridge pickup. But I tried out the pickup as soon as I realized it, and it fortunately does not affect the tone of the pickup or single strings.)
It took some hours to cut everything to shape , but it was fun and now I have a much cleaner and simple looking pickguard
