In 2006 or 7 I built this guitar with the intent on letting my boy have it since his uncle and cousin had done the custom paint work on it. He showed no interest at the time, but a friend of mine who was heading up a rockabilly band just had a fit for it every time he saw it. I ended up selling it to him and he said if my boy ever wanted it he would sell it back. Fast forward to Saturday when my friend and i were playing a job together with my son filling in on drums and Steve pulls out this guitar. Cody asked if he was ready to sell it to him and Steve (who never sells anything) said if you give me my money back, it's yours. What a pal. Sunday, it was back at our house with Cody and my daughter Kelsey learning songs for an up coming show. First pic is when it was just put together with Cody, Uncle Jeff and Dylan showing it off. True friends are hard to come across, but ol Steve is the real deal.

I have a picking buddy that lives up the street from me, and we are separated by about 24 years. I’m old enough to be his Dad, but we have a blast picking and grinning together, mostly on acoustics.

I have known him for over 20 years. I would not call us best friends, but we are still pretty tight. He doesn’t have any other guitar playing friends that are at my level. Plus, despite his age of 40, he likes Tom Waits, Bob Dylan, The Stones, John Prine, Beatles, etc. We have been to quite a few concerts together too, over the years.

Even though we are not per se best friends, it’s a close call.

That is a cool guitar! I'm glad it got used and then made it's way home.
