I saw this on the work table getting cleaned up at a local dealer, before it ever went out on a hook. I am pretty good friends with the guy, so he said it's yours. I went and snagged it today. The rosewood is stunning in person!! The body is chip free, and only a few light scratches. Wine Red and nicely darkened neck/headstock. It was a good day.

    .

I find that Wine Red Fender guitars have a secret club of fans. There are all the LPB/Butterscotch/Surf Green/etc fans and then there are the Wine Red aficionados. Good find.

Sweet. A 98 has been my #1 for about 15 years, even though I have US made ones. "It was a very good year" :>)

Thanks guys. I also have a 93 that I have owned since 1996, that I wore the frets out on. I am taking it in this next week for a level and crown.

Just dropped the tuning on the 98. Yep, the tech guy put tens on it, because it suddenly felt like 9's, hehe. Got the ol Stevie sound going on.

Talked to the tech, he put 11's on it. Funny because I would have put 9/42's on it and called it a day.

After playing this one for a few days, I took my 93 in for a fret dress.

Those and the LPB colors are probably my favorite from the MIM standard series.

i had a wine red too, but i returned it due to a faulty truss rod. And got a diff one instead.

Miguello, where do you go in Houston for guitar work? I have gone to Ron Pace for years. Thanks!
