Pick-retrieving breakthrough

Someone needs to invent a gps chip we can embed into picks so we can discover where they all go.
The same thing would be useful for figuring out where socks are going.

Another idea is to attach a fine fishing line to the pick and attach it to a retractable reel you can clip on your belt.
I bet someone could make a million bucks on that idea

Picks are so cheap they're disposable.

Unless you've spent $80 on a Blue Chip pick. Those should come with a replacement insurance policy.

I recently had a different problem. I looked over on my end table and saw 4 picks there that weren't there the previous day. I suspect a wormhole in time.

Funny thing is, sometimes I find picks in the dryer.

When I return from my monthly senior-living gig, sometimes I forget to take the picks out of my coin pocket of my pants and put them back where they belong. So they get washed and dried with the pants. They stay in the pocket while washing and come out of the pocket in the dryer.

I haven't noticed. It does sort of age the picks, however.

Actually, I think it makes the picks a little firmer. At least, they don't melt.

I had this idea if I ever became a billionaire and wanted to be an evil one. Instead of invading everyone's privacy or meddling with politics I'd start a sock company and every so often would include a water-soluble sock in the package.

Here’s the trick I’ve used for decades.
I tilt the guitar till the pick lands in the bottom left corner of the guitar, or right corner if you’re a lefty.
I then gently turn the guitar upside down.
The pick usually drops right out.
It works most of the time.

@bobio 's "permanently-attached to the pick" fishing line, very fine fishing line, could be routed from the pick, up the underside of your forearm towards, but not quite to, your elbow where it departs the outside of your sleeve to enter the retractable retractor housing, like on a vacuum cleaner.

Weak* masking tape might be involved to keep the fishing close against your forearm. Or, forget masking tape, put almost-complete little circles of plastic, to press-clip the line in place. The little incomplete circles of plastic would grip weakly enough to release the line when tugged.

*weak, so as, WHEN you forget you are attached to the guitar, the fishing line would tear away instead of pull your instrument to the floor.

With further refinements, this could lead to solving "where does the pick go when you switch to fingerpicking then back?"

^^^^ probably worth it if you have a Blue Chip. (Not me, just a Prime Tone or anything around 1.5 mm) (Come to think about it!!! Wisht I HAD drilled a hole in a highly-polished, fang-shaped, thick, stone pick I had but lost, and attached it w/fishing line )

Yep, I keep a pick in my car in case I want to try something. I walked into a guitar shop with it in my pocket, played a guitar, put it back in my pocket, and then....washed the shirt in my pocket without removing the pick.

It was ruined. It was a cheap pick...life goes on.

I use the line it up and flip the guitar over method. It works 2/3 of the time.
