61A60AA0-F431-4E1A-A0FE-3F61706E664E.jpeg I’ve taken to the idea of slimming down. I play these about the same and I can probably live with just one of them.

the JM is early 1960 with an old refin but otherwise original apart from a mastery bridge

the Firebird is 1965 all original with a well repaired headstock break. It has the skinny neck which I don’t mind but some find uncomfortable.

which would you keep? I have serious gas for a 335, hence the need to move one on.

Easy for me. Jazzmaster. Very cool guitar. Nonreverse FB is not even close.

Do you have jm or mh pups in other guitars? Get rid of the one that’s redundant or keep the most comfortable one.

Let's see, keep the Jazzmaster, a beautiful original offset design that really broke any existing mold for electric guitar style (in a good way).....or the Gibson, melted-gummy-bear-style-knockoff-offset-design?

    Hmmm......

    Well on the one hand....

    There's the Jazzmaster.

And there is no other hand, really.

Keep the Jazzmaster. Get rid of the knockoff..er, Firebird.

    :D

Jazzmaster hands down because of the repair to the Firebird.

I'm a fan of Jazzmasters. I'd like to be more contrarian, but I agree with most above. Keep it.

JM. But if you want an unbiased opinion, perhaps ask the question on a forum not tailored to Fenders or Gibsons.

A repaired FB will be hard to move, a refinished JM, relatively easy. My guess is that the JM will get you close to what a 355 will cost you. A repaired FB will not. If you like and play the FB and don't mind the well repaired head stock on a guitar for your personal use, I'd part with the Jazzmaster. If I could save up enough for a 335 before losing GAS, I'd keep both.

Totally. Nonreverse FB is a mutation that should have been drowned in the river at birth.

I've been jonesing for a non reverse Firebird for a long time.....but I'm not gonna buy one.
Having never played (just heard) either reverse or non-reverse FB, my question is.....how do either of them "balance" on a strap? My instinct would think the non-reverse would balance better.....but I'm still curious. Anyone? ;)

I have a '62 Jazzmaster, so I'd say keep the Jazzmaster!

That's a sweet looking JM for sure. Keep it. Or send it to me!
But really, what other guitars do you have, the 'bird may be more unique tone in your herd? I imagine that 'bird is very middy tone.

If your going by looks, then the keep the JM.
If your going by which sounds the best, then the Firebird.

True that a non-reverse Firebird isn't as desirable and the neck repair will count against you in a sale, but original vintage Firebird pickups are worth a bunch.
