and yet, I see posts... in this thread, that denigrate Peter Green. I got two words for you, and it isn't Merry Christmas. he was an early innovator... one of a very short list of dynamic players that helped create what is now known as rock, and the blues (electric version), both of which were the intro to progressive rock, metal, punk, hair, and a dozen other spin offs including disco.

one of a hand full of true innovators who was an influence on my playing FIFTY years ago. read that again... actually, a little over 50 years ago.

    RIP man.... we owe you

What an absolutely stupid couple of posts on a thread about a great player who has died.
    What a knob.

“So and so was “better” than this other guy you’re talking about !”

“You all know my guy played more notes than your guy !”

i’ve been guilty of that in the past, and we probably all have.

But sometimes how lame brain that line of thinking is just leaps out at ya...

I'm sure not happy with Peter Green being pigeonholed as a blues player.

He showed a wonderful vocabulary of different sounds, to convey different states of mind. Just because he played in so called "Blues" bands, it didn't stop him from playing some phrases and notes that were more Gospel or Symphonic than anything else. To call anyone's music or playing "Atmospheric" can be seen as a put down, but Peter's singing, words and especially his guitar could take you to places that almost nobody else ventured.

And so, people mourn that Peter's contributions to music were limited, after a point, but to me the greater tragedy is, Peter Green is not must listening for virtually everyone who is considering playing actual music. And when I say "actual music" I'm excluding dance hits, gimmick songs, hip hop and other "beat" entertainment lacking firm connection to traditional tonal music composition. My suspicion is, Peter's ability and his vocabulary are simply out of reach of a lot of people. Their ears don't work; their heart doesn't work, and their mind barely works.
