The name suggests more of a fuzz sound to me but I've read it should be a good overdrive. Never made one though.
Last l made a Timmy and it really is good.

I've had one for a long time now (built it over a decade ago).

I like that it is a very mild OD with harmonic distortion that's very similar to what you have in a tube amp.

The only thing it's lacking is lots and lots of OD/clipping, but it wasn't designed to do anything more than mild OD.

Rather than describe its sound, I'll just put links to runoffgroove.com's sound clips here:

    Peppermill - clip 1

    Peppermill - clip 2

My Peppermill has been on my pedalboard fairly consistently over the years (it's on the board right now). I've primarily used it with my '71 Vibrolux Reverb and '67 Super Reverb, when I want to add just a little grit and breakup to the amp.

My Peppermill is one of the very best options I've found for just a *bit* of drive, that tiny bit of rust on the chrome bumper of my tone

It's not some full, authoritative badass sound, it's not meant to be that

I want to try this pedal based on the name alone.

While scrolling through the Peppermill web page, I noticed a link to a pedal maker who's supposed to build a variant of the Peppermill:

    http://www.sonicfusionpedals.com/PedalDetails.aspx?pedalname=magichat

The only proviso that I want to add is that the Magic Hat is not a stock Peppermill. It adds some kind of a 'mode' switch, along with the addition of a tone control. I'm possibly incorrectly assuming that the mode switch is capable of being set to stock Peppermill.

...The addition of a tone control is probably not a deal breaker, as it can probably be set to mimic the Peppermill's hardwired high cut filter.

Just FYI - I have no affil, and have no idea what shipping to Asia would cost.

The Peppermill is a sweet low gain drive, well worth building. Here's my version on perfboard:

I built a series of pedals using antique matchbox graphics, mostly fuzz except the PM. I have one more fuzz/antique matchbox coming soon. Why? 125B enclosures are the exact same size as the old matchboxes!
