My internet is down and i have been reduced to using my phone. I dont know how people can stand it. So annoying navigating tiny touch screens. It would be enough to put me off my meal.
Id be embarased and hiding the fact i paid $400 bucks for a meal just because a tv guy cooked it.

How much do the ingedients cost for a CS Fender Telecaster?

If business costs were only about ingredients the world would have been full of millionaires.

You don't see many thousand-yard stares anymore, they've been replaced by people looking intently at their phones (he said, as he stared at the screen in his hand, and clocked out the noise of life going on around him)

    You're completely right.

I know that deep down, the only reason he charges £650 a meal for two, is because people will pay £650 for a meal for two. It's the cinema popcorn logic again.

My wife and I sometimes take pics of a special meal but those are for us to remember. Rarely does anything make it to Facebook or anywhere else.

I’m reminded of the movie Mr Frost in which the titular character made endless baked Alaskas, photographed them and threw them away.

Mr. Frost was a serial killer

Some prediction. He didn’t say that it would make people permanent knobheads
    Though...

I have no problem with people taking a picture of a meal that they wasted... err, spent that much money on. Just don’t post it on social media. You want me to see the pretty dinner, invite me out with you.

Oh, people were knobheads in 1953. They just expressed it differently.

I like to see people share their experiences. I almost feel obligated to return the favor.

What I don't get, is why if people are bothered by people posting pics of meals, that they complain about reliced guitars ... I mean clouds in the sky ... er, uh ... Wait ... I crossed the beams.:lol::lol::lol:

Taking photos of your food? Ephemeral meets ephemeral.

Taking photos of food seems peculiar because you can't really remember how it tasted, or the texture. Not really. Memory only provides an approximation, and photos lack the felt presence of experience. Seems like an exercise in futility.

The only reason I have taken photos of my food is because I simply can't remember what it looked like after ingesting. I love food, and I would for sure want to remember what it looks like. When you see a picture of certain food from your past, all of your other senses become alive. The taste, smell, sound of the dining room, people you are with; to me it's a big deal to remember. Also, it's their lives and their food. They can do what they want with it.

Perhaps Heston should just confiscate cellphones at the door...not just wallets.

I'd be embarrassed about paying $400 for a meal at all.

I think it's a little much to pay $3K for a Custom Shop Fender, but at least an expensive guitar is a tangible item that you can use the rest of your life, sell, or leave to your heirs. 12 hours after you eat an expensive meal, all you have left is memories.

I think the operative word in your post is "rarely"......meaning "sometimes" a pic makes it to Facebook.....
    Gotcha! ;)
