    Hello my (shock) brothers !

First to say THANK YOU to all the great posters here; I have read EVERY page of this sub-forum, but no doubt will STILL need some help!

Well, since I'm a CHEAP bastige; I'm going to try to build my 5e3/p/+ on a shoestring; I do not feel as if I want to buy any booteek parts as it prolly won't make *much* difference (to me)...

In my other hobby of rock crawling/fabrication, I try to follow the "built, not bought" premise and hope to bring that mentality to my amp build as well...so if you are of the same DIY mind, maybe this thread may help you someday.

I will be trying to put everything I gathered from this forum/internet all here in one plqce so there might be less 'looking around' for some of the same pics/files/ideas. So~ LOTS of pics! (hopefully)

    Starting with:

    DIY chassis
    DIY cabinet
chinese eBay small parts, board, tubes
    weber W404248
weber W025130EU (EU as they had no stock on regular; same price)

..and an additional bag of small parts from weber for future robrob mods after amp is up and running in stock form; cathode biased with a larger resistor. (THANKS ROB!)

Still need a speaker, but have a WGS ET65 and a Celestion 70/80 to fool with.

As I waited for parts, I decided to try to bend up a chassis; ended up making a few; best to use a break for nice bends:

I wanted to drill first which would have been faster/easier, but did not want to waste my effort if I drilled it all and was not happy afer bending; so I cut/bent first, then marked/drilled...so approx. 40 holes later:

Home Depot; 8' pine board ~$18 or so :

Started on board bottom; ALREADY need help! lol

..I seem to have a problem with "spatial relations"; can't seem to wrap my head around reversed/upside down/backwards afa rear of board; please take a look and comment.

If I need to add any flying leads, please let me know; trying to do as much out of chassis as possible.

    Planning split ground bus.

    board bottom:

My intent is to always ask for guidance first to minimize first time builder mistakes/issues; hoping I can get it straight at every step before moving on too much.

thanks again to all in advance

    ~John

yep; tnx...I will add leads at same time. most appreciated.

tolex showed up; and in keeping with PP5e3P motto, "ain't cheap enough", I had bought it from Wangmart for $14.07; full width yard..page says free shipping!
BUT- when I put it in the cart, it added shipping, and I didn't want to drive 20+ to store, so I made a call, and free shipping! "But wait- there's more"...next email shows total adjusted price to $8 bucks & change !
    win!

I'm going to match an existing that's just a little bigger than the 5e3 cab...same color, bad lighting

    brown croc

    so :

    cab wood $18
    baffle ~$0~ plywood on hand
    black paint on hand
    adhesive on hand
grill cloth (for both; changing existing) both will be tan; was $12 (1/2 is $6) shipped for 2pc. 24" x 24" ebay
handle; brown stitched type, $10 shipped ebay
8 chrome corners $6.06 shipped amazon(add on item)

    all told,
$40 bucks...I should have planned better and grew the tree!
we shall see how it turns out; wood is not my forte

soo this is a5E3 deluxe with 6l6's and a big Ot ? if so good choice have two amps like this they sound fantastic (actually the best 2 I have built) I have messed around with the pre amp a bit to make a very harp friendly amp, but still sounds fantastic with a guitar plugged in.

well; she is the 'queen of montreal'; so maybe genuflect? lol

scored two as-new speakers on CL; both for $70:

...and wanted to cover back pieces before setting cleats so they sit flush with back of cab; still cannot believe I got all that tolex for $8 bucks!

do I need to physically connect ground to shunt on high input jacks with a small jumper?
