I have always used amps with built in fx, well that is until now.....
What is the best pedal to use for as a clean boost for rock/hard rock?
Also what is the best pedal to use for a boot for high gain? I'm a high gain/metal kinda dude
    Thank you in advance

It's helps if you tell us what amp and guitar(s) you're using.

    High gain rock?

Marshall or Mesa then a boost pedal that compliments the guitar you're using.

If you don't need a clean channel, maybe an Orange.

But most boost pedals that are good are good because of the interaction with the amp and guitar. OD pedals like TS's, Klones, Timmy's, xen drives, whatever are useful for what they do with the amp.
Ocds are generally good as well, but again, amp is important.

What kind of sound are you after, and what amp and guitar are you using?

I tend to stick away from pedals, so roll the tone or volume about 1/4 and when you dig in, you should have the boost you need.
