I planted this Elberta Peach tree about 2 weeks ago . Looks like I just may have some peaches this season .

about the only thing i miss in CA is my little orchard of 7 or so fruit trees... do yaself a favor and if it does start to get fruit this season, remove them all... that way the tree can concentrate more on vegetative growth (getting bigger) rather than producing fruit...

looking good... have fun with it !!

I agree. I have a modest apple orchard. For new trees I pinch off the flowers after the blooms decay for the first couple of years. It is so tantalizing and difficult to do, but you'll get much better growth and more peaches later.

I just noticed my apricot tree is loaded with flowers! It's full-grown, so I'll be thinning it out when the fruit starts to develop. My wife is awful at that -- she hates to remove most of the fruit. Thinks it's wasteful. But they clump together and even if they ripen, it's four times more than we can use.

Great minds think alike . I do this with all of my fruit trees . Allow them to set fruit and then remove the fruit . I believe in letting the tree do the cycle of bud , bloom , fruit in the beginning before removing the fruit .

Adams County Orchards in Aspers , Pa sells Smokehouse apple trees that were started from my scions . My guess is that they would do well in wydaho . I could send you some scions . Late July is budding season .

Guardian breed dogs and providing the Moose something they like more . For example , a Great Pyrenees likely won't be able to challenge a Moose , but one or two of them may cause the Moose to try something easier .

When I lived in Colorado, I had a scrawny seven-foot tree in my yard. Base of the trunk maybe the size of my wrist (I’m skinny, too). I was shocked when it started producing peaches in great number. We had to keep picking them, because the weight was too much for the spindly branches.

I don’t even like peaches.

Growing up, my grandparents had two of the scrawniest, stunted-looking peach trees you've ever seen. Those two trees produced an abundant harvest every year of the best tasting peaches on the planet. Never judge a tree by its shoe size! ;)

I think you'll be pretty lucky to have much in year one, but I hope you do!

Nice looking blooms. Any starters behind the blooms?

Just planted a new King this week. We think we lost our 8 year old tree to the freeze. I was really sad cutting it back to just above the main branches. We usually got close to a hundred peaches (most went to the squirrels). I'm hoping the roots survived and will see growth later this year. We also lost a really old Myer Lemon tree that really produced. Haven't been able to find one yet, they are popular in Houston.
