I had never heard the Wings' live version of Paul McCartney's 1980 solo hit "Coming Up" until today. I knew it existed but I've finally heard it. Wow, is all I can say. I liked the original but Macca is almost going into James Brown territory on this live version. His bass playing is awesome on this one. Also, props to superguitarist Laurence Juber playing a funky rhythm guitar.

Ive seen that before and really like it. Probably near the end of the Denny Laine era.

That man can play the bass and sing at the same time better than most!

I take it you weren't of FM radio listening age at the time, this was the "A" side (at least in the US), on the top of the charts until "Funkytown" became #1, I think.

I like Paul - both solo and in his days with his 4 piece band from long ago - but this song is one of his efforts that I like least.

Not a bad song imho, though a bit long for what it is, and nicely played. But that must go down in the ‘Denny Laine: criminally underused’ category!

I wasn't much of a fan of the original single, that's a much better version.
