I used to deejay at a roller-rink in the early 80s. Played this one all the time

I've always known this song is awesome. The video is super cringey though

I don't usually 'hate' songs, but that (which I'd managed to completely forget about for decades) is one of the few.

I don't need to listen to it, the 'pain/cringe' reaction is still embedded in my subconscious...

I don't think I've heard it since one sunny 1980's afternoon in a bar on the Jersey shore. It was great then!
I'm not gonna watch the video though.

A song about joy. Why not?

Reading the YouTube comments, apparently Madonna was a backup dancer on the tour? This would have been when she was posing for playboy before lucky star.

I used to roller skate with my high school girlfriend.
This was in the mid 1970s.
I loved the music that was played at the skating rinks we went to.
I don’t recall there being a DJ, but there must have been one.
I don’t recall said DJ doing much, uh, DJ-ing (talking).
Maybe they didn’t, maybe I was just so smitten with my girlfriend that I don’t recall much of anything else.
The song I remember most was I Can Help by Billy Swan.
It was a roller skatin’ hit, I tell ya’!
    Thanks for listening.

The other great roller skating song was instant replay by Dan Hartman.

I spent a lot of time skating in my youth.
Knock Three Times leaps to mind.

I like it, I used to roller skate to it in the 80's.:)
It was a disco standard right through until the 90s some time. I never did like the disco scene but after enough beers my foot would always tap to that song.

When I got sick of roller skating I pulled the wheels, trucks of my skates and wore the shoes minus the wheels for a few months. Had to be careful around puddles. They vaguely resembled puma suedes with a slight special needs look about them.

Now I know why I don't like that song - I never roller skated.
