Right. In my experience, an SFTR with volume on 1 or 1 1/2 has a beautiful tone at living room volume.

The SF twin just fills the room...no matter the room size (pretty much). It moves a lot of air, and just thickens up the sound of pretty much any guitar. It's fine at low to medium volumes, you just loose the "punch". Mine will pretty much never reach the point of breakup. I have always used a pedal for dirt. I have what i *think* is a 76...master volume, with the orange cone JBL's.
It can also be just plain wicked loud when the need arises.

Nice, but will it be loud enough to play at home?

I was just playing one of my Teles thru my 1971 Twin Reverb earlier this evening. Definitely THE amp that all others are judged. I own lots of amps, but nothing else comes close to this one whether I'm playing at low home volumes or on stage at a large, un-mic'd outdoor venue. Maintained properly and taken care of, it will out-live my kids and grandkids.
