Partscaster in the flavor of Broadcaster

Starting a Broadcaster build. Neck is an Allparts u shaped one. Body is from Reverb. Needs a lot of finishing but I like the grain. It’s Ash. .01k cap with a 15k resistor. 250k pots. More to follow.

Makes a tough decision on finish as I'd like to see that come through....but a more opaque BSB looks so cool too!

grain fill?

caution: I used Timbermate but in a color (walnut?) that ended up looking purplish under amber shellac

for a trad look, go for a darker color like ebony

I’ve got a jar of Goodfilla in ash I’m going try. I’ve never filled grain on a body so we get to if it’s a win or not.

it's easy, just use an old credit card

Put a coat of whitewash on before the butterscotch.

Even better, put a whitewash coat on then use neck amber to simulate clear lacquer that turned amber over time.

I finished this a few weeks ago.

Yes, thru Amazon but I’ve ordered it direct in the past. Used to buy from ReRanch.

I have used the Ohio Valley. The pigment covers a little thinner than the Reranch, but that might be desirable for the butterscotch. It levels and hardens up nicely.

Update! Painted the body. I’m sloppy.

I was going to use the Ohio Valley Butterscotch, but they were out of it when I was building my black guard tele. I used the Mohawk Blonde Toner instead. I actually prefer the Mohawk because I will yellow up over the years due to the nitro gloss coat on top. Otherwise, you can just use an Amber tint like the picture in sean138 that allows the grain to show through.
