Of course I believe the James Burton connection is the main reason for the popularity of the pink variety. Me included. But I also kind of dig the black paisley from Harley Benton.
James was the one who gave these the "approval" that they needed. Once players saw him with one, they said, OK then.

I once visited the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland and the exhibit in the top of the pyramid was dedicated to Elvis memorabilia. On display there was a James Burton pink paisley Telecaster that he had used while in Elvis's band.

It was an "Ooh, aah" moment for me!

I've got a left-handed one under construction right now with Great Lakes Custom Colors. Musikraft neck is also under construction (AAA flame maple with a rosewood fretboard). I've got all of the hardware and electronics here and waiting. I went with JonesyBlues' Zoso pickups, and I can't wait to hear them.

I'm shooting for a left handed version of this:

I'll post pictures when it's done, probably in early August.
They look good with a rosewood finger board.

I have this one. Sorry, it is not a kit, generally not available for custom build. It is a 2012 FSR Black Paisley and I love it. I always regret not also buying the MIJ pink one I saw for $500 7-8 years ago.

Here’s one I built so I could use my original B16.

I always thought about these as " Why pink"? Was pink deemed a mod color? I lived and witnessed these period in American pop history and don't recall pink as a prominent color. I've mentioned this before but a friend of mine had an original, of the time pink paisley. It was a communal guitar with the group of friends that hung out together / played music etc. It was always around, I don't remember it having a case either and my friend kept it under his futon, couch/bed and when you'd take it out to play there would be dust bunnies on it and the occasional sock. It was always in tune, perhaps a tad heavy but a solid performer. At some point I think he sold it for not much money because........ wait for it.............nobody wanted it, I should'a bought it, but hey I was playing drums at the time.
