Hey everyone.

OK, so I'm saving bits for a build and with any luck it's gonna be a Paisley body.

Was wondering who has one, who wants one, what are your pecs and what do you dig not not dig about them. Also pics would be great!

Cheers.

That sounds awesome. I think it would be killer. I don't own any Paisley guitars but I've been lusting after this Black Paisley Jazzmaster lately. I think Paisley looks especially wicked on offsets.

When it comes to the paisleys, I think of the original Pink Paisleys and the Japanese reissues. The originals were interesting as Fender really tried to push the marketing trend during that era. However, by the time those were offered, the general public was already moving on from that trend. Had those been offered two years earlier, they would have been more successful and appreciated in their time in my opinion. Too little too late! As far as their status now, they are pretty much in legendary territory They are in reality just a normal late sixties Telecaster with a fancy paint job. I have a CIJ reissue, but although the workmanship is exceptional, I had to retrofit the guitar to get it where I wanted it to be.

I came close to pulling the trigger on an original back in the day, but I was afraid that I would be stuck with something I couldn't sell later. We make our decisions based on what the environment that is going on at the time so this would have had to be more of a "crystal ball" kind of a thing to foretell the future of these guitars. I don't own one, and have no realistic opportunity to acquire one for a while, but I like 'em.

I think Pink looks the best, but some kind of grayscale/black/silver paisley might be sharp. With a Rosewood board.

I think the attraction to Paisley Telecasters are their "campy" image and historical place in history along with the limited number produced (conversation pieces). For me, I know what I was doing at the time these were introduced and the first time I spotted one in person was at Wallich's Music City in Hollywood 1968 or early 1969. Long gone now, but for most of us who live in that area, it was a special place for sure.

Of course I believe the James Burton connection is the main reason for the popularity of the pink variety. Me included. But I also kind of dig the black paisley from Harley Benton.
I love James Burton's (apart from the maple fret board), but honestly not my thing.

Funny you mention the HB. is that the black one?

I'm not fond of the pink, blue and all the others (and I'm going on shade as I'm colourblind and also don't like the repetitive swuatr/diamond shape patterning) I'm acquiring parts for a parts caster and it's black and metallic silver paulsrly much prefer it.

I was thinking of grabbing a Benton and stopping it for the body but as much as I dig it shich I do, the burst around the sedges is just too much, if it was a smaller bust and more Paisley that'd be here and stripped by now.

This is the one I'm gonna grab.

I’m eager to hear from someone who has gotten one of those from HB.

I saw these cheap-o metal top paisley Teles on Ebay the other day. I considered buying one, taking the metal top off to use on a better guitar, and selling the rest. I know nothing about the seller and, technically, I'm not sure that pattern is really paisley, but I like the look.

I've got a left-handed one under construction right now with Great Lakes Custom Colors. Musikraft neck is also under construction (AAA flame maple with a rosewood fretboard). I've got all of the hardware and electronics here and waiting. I went with JonesyBlues' Zoso pickups, and I can't wait to hear them.

I'm shooting for a left handed version of this:

I'll post pictures when it's done, probably in early August.
